USET Named Leading Team at The Royal Agricultural Winter Fair

Gladstone, New Jersey –November 12, 2001– The United States Equestrian Team
(USET) squad of Laura Kraut of Oconomowoc, WI; Margie Goldstein Engle of
West Palm Beach, FL; Beezie Madden of Cazenovia, NY; and McLain Ward of
Brewster, NY was named the Leading International Team at the Royal
Agricultural Winter Fair (CSIO-W Toronto) in Toronto, Canada, November 5 –
11.
Kraut won the $60,000 Audi Quattro World Cup Grand Prix on Anthem, owned by
Summit Syndicates. She had two clear rounds and the fastest time of 35.7
seconds in the jump-off, beating Canadians Jill Henselwood and Eric Lamaze
who finished second and third respectively.
Ward won the $30,000 Hit/Hurry class on Cameo, owned by Ward and Harry Gill,
and the $30,000 Polo Ralph Lauren Speed class on Fior, also owned by Ward
and Harry Gill. Ward finished a second ahead of Engle riding Hidden Creek’s
Jones, owned by Michael Polaski.
In the Nations Cup, the USET squad finished second with eight faults behind
Ireland, who finished with five faults. The Canadians finished in third
place with 9 faults.
