Gladstone, NJ-September 4, 2001-Team USA brought the Silver Medal home from
CRIO Kreuth (Germany) August 30 - September 2. This competition marked the
first time the United States Equestrian Team (USET) sent a Reining team
overseas. The only team at the competition using borrowed horses, Team USA
bested seven other teams and one individual. Team Italy won the Gold Medal
in a dominant fashion and Switzerland took home the Bronze.
Team USA, consisting of Clint Haverty, Dell Hendricks, Craig Johnson, and
Scott McCutcheon and chef d'equipe Jim Kiser, showed a real "Team effort"
and proved that riders from the United States possess great knowledge and
skill, as this Silver Medal finish is the best placing ever by a team using
borrowed horses. Other countries competing were France, Great Britain,
Czech Republic, Austria, and one individual from Luxembourg.
Volker Schmitt of Germany won the individual Gold Medal with Chex
Enterprise, Dario Carmignani of Italy took Silver with Frozen Sailor, and
Adriano Meacci of Italy won Bronze with Billy All Dun. The USET's Dell
Hendricks was fourth on Little Gump.
