Gladstone, New Jersey –May 23, 2001–The United States Equestrian Team (USET)
has announced that this year’s Show Jumping team for CSIO Spruce Meadows,
September 5 – 9, will be chosen according to ranking on the July 27, 2001
USET Computer List. Riders on the July 27th list will be contacted in order
of their ranking to determine availability for this competition.
Each year the USET sends a squad of riders to represent the United States at
the Masters Tournament at Spruce Meadows in Calgary, Canada. In years which
a championship is being held, teams have been selected based on performance
in selection trials being held for other squads (e.g. Olympic Games, Pan
American Games or World Equestrian Games). With no selection trials being
held in 2001, the squad for Spruce Meadows will be chosen based on the USET
Computer List ranking as is the case with other CSIO and CSI competitions in
which interest exceeds the number of available invitations.
The United States Equestrian Team is a non-profit organization that selects,
trains, equips and finances equestrians of the highest possible standard to
represent our country in major international competition, including the
Olympic Games and the World Championships. To accomplish this the USET seeks
out and nurtures the development of talented athletes - riders, drivers and
horses - and provides the support and guidance they need to help them attain
their fullest potential. For more information on the USET, please call
(908) 234-1251, or visit USET ONLINE at www.uset.org.
