MOUNT WASHINGTON VALLEY, NH (May 18, 2001) – Due to the lack of a title
sponsor, Attitash Bear Peak has cancelled the Equine Festival at the Fields
of Attitash in Bartlett, New Hampshire for this year. The 2001 Attitash
Bear Peak Equine Festival had been scheduled for August 15 - 19, 2001.
“This was a hard decision for us to make,” remarked Tom Chasse, Managing
Director of Attitash Bear Peak. “I think everyone looked forward to the
event, and we researched every possible solution to make it happen this
year. But without adequate sponsorship, it was not financially feasible for
us to move forward.” Chasse thanked the sponsors and community members who
helped produce the Equine Festival in the past. “We hope to bring the
festival back in the future,” he said. “We see the festival as a very
positive community event and are proud to have hosted it for the past 16
years.” Chasse said that other summer activities at Attitash Bear Peak were
unaffected by the cancellation of the Equine Festival.
Attitash Bear Peak is a four season ski resort with skiing and snowboarding
from November to April and nearly 20 attractions and activities for summer
guests like the famous Alpine Slides, waterslides and horseback riding.
Attitash Bear Peak is part of American Skiing Company (NYSE: SKI), the
largest ski resort owner and operator in the United States. The resorts
include: The Canyons, Utah; Heavenly, California; Killington, Mount Snow,
