Eventing Horses Arrive Safely in Sydney

SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA--The United States Equestrian Team (USET) Olympic eventing
horses arrived at the Sydney International Equestrian Center at Horsley Park
on Monday. All horses arrived safely and appear ready for the opening of the
eventing team competition on Saturday, September 16.
"All our horses traveled well and are in good shape for the start of the
Games," said USET eventing team leader Jim Wolf. "We are looking forward to
naming our squad and our individual riders and starting the competition."
The USET will announce its squad of four horse-and-rider combinations for the
team competition, September 16-19, on Tuesday morning as well as the three
horse-and-rider combinations for the individual competition which follows,
September 20-22.
Those that arrived at the Equestrian Center on Monday were:
- 3 Magic Beans, a 10-year-old, Thoroughbred gelding owned and ridden by Nina Fout of Middleburg, VA;
- Giltedge, a 14-year-old, Irish Thoroughbred gelding owned by Jacqueline
Mars and ridden by David O'Connor of The Plains, VA;
- Custom Made, a 15-year-old, Irish Thoroughbred gelding owned by Xandarius, LLC and ridden by David O'Connor;
- Prince Panache, a 16-year-old, Thoroughbred gelding owned by Jacqueline
Mars and ridden by Karen O'Connor of The Plains, VA;
- Hyde Park Corner, a 10-year-old, Thoroughbred gelding owned by Jim and
Janet Richards and ridden by Julie Black of Newnan, GA;
- Chevalier, an 11-year-old, Thoroughbred gelding owned by Deirdre Pirie and ridden by Bobby Costello of Southern Pines, NC;
- Highland Hogan, a 9-year-old, Thoroughbred gelding owned by Faye C. and
David Woolf and ridden by Becky Douglas of Lansing, KS; and
- Anderoo, an 11-year-old, Thoroughbred gelding owned by Barbara and James
Wiesman and ridden by Linden Wiesman of Bluemont, VA.
The United States Equestrian Team is a non-profit organization that selects,
trains, equips and finances equestrians of the highest possible standard to
represent our country in major international competition, including the
