USA Equestrian is pleased to congratulate the United States Pony Club Pony
Jumper Team Members for their extraordinary performances at the 2002 USA
National Pony Jumper Championships presented by Salamander Farm. The USPC
sent a team of four pony/rider combinations and one alternate for the first
time to the USA National Pony Jumper Championships, August 6-8, 2002. The
Team members were Kate Marcotte, Krista Lynn Innerst, Wilhemina Horzepa,
Kathryn Fogerty, and Jill Hubbuch as the alternate. Richard Lamb and Linda
Allen were the Co-Chef d' Equipe's. The USPC Team members were chosen by a
USPC selection committee, which reviewed videos, and competitions, which
demonstrated the members' talent and ability.
The first phase of the individual round began with a field of 35, on
Tuesday, August 6. Kate Marcotte, riding Indigo, finished 4th with a clean
round and a time of 57.361, Krista Lynn Innerst, riding Rainbow Bright,
finished 6th with a clean round and a time of 61.203, and Wilhemina Horzepa
finished 8th with a clean round and a time of 64.821. Kathryn Fogarty
finished 18th with 11 faults and a time of 68.291 and Jill Hubbuch finished
22nd with 18 faults and a time of 17.592.
Team Competition was held Wednesday, August 7, 2002. The USPC went head to
head with nine other teams and finished 5th overall. The second round of the
Individual Phase was held Thursday, August 8, 2002. In a field of 33,
Krista Lynn Innerst and Kate Marcotte had double clean rounds, which would
have qualified them to ride off for the Gold Medal. USPC members were not
eligible to compete for the USOC Junior Olympic Medals as they qualified
under different criteria then the USA Equestrian Team members.
USA Equestrian was proud to have the USPC Team Members participate in this
year's event and would like to congratulate each team member for their great
success at the 2002 USA National Pony Jumper Championships.
