Peebles Retires as National Show Horse

USA Equestrian (formerly AHSA) announced today that Robert Peebles retired
from his position as Executive Director of the National Show Horse Registry
(NSHR) on September 16, 2001. Kim Ratte-Bunten, NSHR Chairman of the Board
and Chair of the USA Equestrian National Show Horse Division Committee made
the announcement during a special presentation in the evening session of the
2001 National Show Horse Finals at the Illinois State Fairgrounds in
Springfield, IL, on Saturday, September 15.
Mr. Peebles had served as Executive Director of the NSHR for 19 years. He
has been an active member of the USA Equestrian National Show Horse Division
Committee and Licensed Officials Committee for a number of years. He will
continue to serve on the USA Equestrian committees, act as Show Manager for
the NSH Finals, and will serve as a consultant to the NSHR.
Individuals in center ring for the announcement and presentation were: Kim
Ratte-Bunten, Mary Jane Peebles, Robert Peebles, Bruce Milligan, a very
close friend and former NSHR Chairman of the Board, Pam Milligan, Melissa
Milligan, Brenda Jett, the NSHR Registrar, and Gayle Garrett, new Executive
Director of the NSHR.
Bruce and Pam Milligan purchased and donated a trophy honoring Mr. Peebles,
entitled "Robert Peebles Five Gaited Open Perpetual Trophy", which was
unveiled during the presentation.
Gayle Garrett, the new Executive Director of the NSHR, has been employed by
the NSHR since January 1983, serving in numerous capacities. For the past
two years, she has worked as editor of the NSHR's publication, National Show
Horse, as well as serving as Registry Manager. Ms. Garrett also developed
and maintains the NSHR's website, www.nshregistry.org .
Ms. Garrett stated, "Since the announcement of my new position, I have
received numerous suggestions from members for new programs and ideas for
the further development of the National Show Horse breed. I plan to work
closely with the membership and the NSHR Board of Directors to implement
programs and promote the NSH breed."
