Lake Placid, NY—July 2, 2004—Callan Solem of Colt's Neck, NJ rode Warsaw to
victory in the Holiday Inn Lake Placid Resort North American League (NAL)
Open Speed Stake Friday at the 35th annual Lake Placid Horse Show.
Solem was the 13th of 21 entries to ride over the 12-jump, one-round course
at the North Elba Showgrounds in Lake Placid. She and Warsaw completed the
course fault-free in 52.911 seconds to take the class lead.
The next rider, Laura Chapot of Neshanic Station, NJ, then beat Solem's
time, finishing in 51.042 seconds. However, her mount, Three Coins, lowered
a rail at the second-to-last fence adding four penalty seconds to their time
and leaving them in second place with an adjusted score of 55.042. It
marked the second straight day that Chapot finished second. Third place
went to Christine Tribble of Suffield, CT who finished clean in 55.566
seconds on Rioletto.
The North American League (NAL) runs season-long series in six hunter and
jumper divisions – Children's Hunter, Children's Jumper, Adult Hunter, Adult
