Tampa, FL-August 19, 2004-The 2004 Show Jumping Hall of Fame Jumper Classic Series was in full swing during the months of June and July, with 18 exciting events in the East Conference and 11 in the West Conference. The Series kicked off in February and continues through November, culminating in a Year-End Championship to be held at the National Horse Show in Wellington, FL.

Brianne Goutal and Onira lead the junior division standings in the East Conference, while Cara Cheska and Njordoctro sit in first place in the amateur-owner division. In the West Conference, Shelby Walter leads the junior division with Corrada, while Eva Gonda and El Campeon's Landstreicher sit atop the amateur-owner division standings.

Brianne Goutal of New York, NY, has led the Show Jumping Hall of Fame Jumper Classic Series standings aboard Onira since the pair earned back-to-back wins at the Winter Equestrian Festival's Cosequin Finale and Tampa Bay Classic.

Charlie Jayne of Elgin, IL, has been steadily closing the gap between the first and second spots in the standings during the summer months. With his mount Champion, he won first place in the Show Jumping Hall of Fame classes at the Showplace Spring Spectacular I and II in Wayne, IL, and placed third at Equifest I, also in Wayne, IL. He sits just 85 points behind Goutal

Cara Cheska of Waukesha, WI, came on strong during June and July. She rode Njordoctro to a second place finish at the Country Heir I in Lexington, KY, in June. One month later, the duo took first place at the Merrill Lynch Hunter Jumper Classic in Moreland Hills, OH. Cheska and Njordoctro edged Danielle Torano of Fort Lauderdale, FL, and Summer Gay of Ridgefield, CT, who are tied for second place in the Amateur-Owner division standings riding Lojana and Pamina, respectively.

The top three in the West Conference Junior division standings are separated by only 100 points. Shelby Walter of Beverly Hills, CA, with Corrada 3; Jordan Lubow of Bell Canyon, CA, riding El Campeon's Jo Jo; and Megan Ellison of Woodside, CA, on Andy, held on for first, second and third places in the standings, respectively, in spite of a strong push by fellow competitors. Each placed in the top ten at the Oaks Blenheim June Classic I in San Juan Capistrano, CA.

Show Jumping Hall of Fame Jumper Classic Series West Conference - Amateur-Owner Division

In the Amateur-Owner division of the West Conference, Eva Gonda of Thousand Oaks, CA, led the standings aboard El Campeon's Landstreicher. At the end of May, Gonda was 65 points ahead of Molly Talla of Newport Beach, CA, and Mr. Pacific. By the end of July, newcomer Sara Gavigan of San Francisco, CA, and Robin Hood, had begun inching up on Gonda's lead.

Gavigan earned a first place finish at the Oaks Blenheim June Classic I as well as a second at the June Classic II. Gonda and El Campeon's Landstreicher maintain a slim 50-point lead over Gavigan and Robin Hood.

The Show Jumping Hall of Fame and Museum at Busch Gardens in Tampa, FL, was established in 1987 and formally opened in 1989. It was organized to promote the sport of show jumping and to immortalize the legends of the men, women and horses who have made great contributions to the sport. The Show Jumping Hall of Fame also conducts the Show Jumping Hall of Fame Jumper Classic Series, held under Grand Prix rules and specifications.

The Series holds classes at nearly one hundred horse shows across the country. It is designed to give amateur-owner and junior riders an opportunity to compete at higher levels and serves as a proving ground for many riders who aspire to someday represent the United States in international competition.
