The American Horse Shows Association (AHSA) hosted an Open House and
Reception for members of the International Arabian Horse Association's
(IAHA) Region XIV and participants in the 2001 Region XIV Silverama Horse
Show on Friday, June 29, 2001. The Open House was followed by a reception
during which IAHA Region XIV officers presented the AHSA with a gift, an
exquisite sculpture of a Mare and Foal, named "Caring," created by the
artist, Shary B. Akers to welcome the AHSA to its Kentucky location. The
sculpture, as well as other art made by Akers, was displayed at the AHSA
offices. The Silverama Horse Show was held June 27-July 1, 2001 at the
Kentucky Horse Park, Lexington, KY.
Larry Kinneer, First Vice Chairman of Region XIV, commented, "This sculpture
came to symbolize more than just a gift but also the determination of the
artist, Shary Akers, to help her overcome some health problems."
