USEF Names Show Jumping Short List for the 2008 Olympic Games

Lexington, KY -- Following the completion of the USEF Selection Trials
for Show Jumping in Wellington, FL, the United States Equestrian
Federation's Ad Hoc Committee on Selection has approved naming the
following ten horse/rider combinations to the Show Jumping Short List
for the 2008 Olympic Games in Hong Kong August 8-24, 2008.
As per the Selection Procedures, the top 6 horse/rider combinations are
named according to their Final Ranking in the Selection Trials. The
remaining four horse/rider combinations may be discretionary choices
recommended by the Selectors. In this case, the Selectors exercised
their option to use four discretionary choices. In addition, the
Selectors name and rank ten substitute horse/rider combinations to the
Short List.
The combinations are as follows:
1. Laura Kraut/ Cedric (Wellington, FL)
2. Nicole Shahinian-Simpson/ SRF Dragonfly (Thousand Oaks, CA)
3. Anne Kursinksi/ Champ 163 (Frenchtown, NJ)
4. Charlie Jayne/ Urbanus (Elgin, IL)
5. Kate Levy/ Vent Du Nord (Wellington, FL)
6. Anne Kursinksi/ Roxana 112 (Frenchtown, NJ)
7. Beezie Madden/ Authentic (Cazenovia, NY)
8. McLain Ward/ Sapphire (Brewster, NY)
9. Jeffery Welles/ Armani (Wellington, FL)
10. Will Simpson/ Carlsson Vom Dach (Thousand Oaks, CA)
Substitute horse/rider combinations in this ranking order:
11. Christine McCrea/ Vegas (E. Windsor, CT)
12. Kent Farrington/ Up Chiqui (Chicago, IL)
13. Lauren Hough/ Quick Study (Wellington, FL)
14. Chris Kappler/ VDL Oranta (Flemington, NJ)

16. Todd Minikus/ Olinda (Loxahatchee, FL)
17. Cara Raether/ Ublesco (North Palm Beach, FL)

The horse/rider combinations named to the Short List have been divided
into two groups of five riders each who will participate in the
following two European Tours before Selection for the 2008 Olympic Games
is finalized in early July:
