By Joanie Morris
Lexington, KY - The US show jumping team of Ashlee Bond and Cadett 7,
Rebecca Johanson-Hofmann and Corona, Michelle Spadone and Melisimo, and
Kirsten Coe and Starlight put on an impressive display at the CSIO
Buenos Aires to win the Nations Cup over the Argentineans on their home
turf.
The US team finished on eight faults, ahead of Argentina (10) and Chile
(24). All of the US riders contributed to the effort, with
Johanson-Hofmann jumping two immaculate clears. Bond, Spadone and Coe
all had one rail in the first round but Bond and Spadone jumped clear in
round two. Coe didn't have to jump Starlight in the second round as the
US had already secured the win.
On Sunday, US success continued with Johanson-Hofmann and Bond placing
third and ninth respectively in the Buenos Aires Ericsson Grand Prix FEI
World Cup Qualifier/Toyota Cup.
US Chef d'Equipe George Morris led another winning effort to cap off a
banner year for the veteran coach.
