Lexington, KY -- With the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games on the horizon, the United States Equestrian Federation (USEF) has hired Peter Tischer to serve as the Developing Driver Four-in-Hand coach for 2009.

A former international driver and member of the German driving team, Tischer drove internationally until 2006. He drove competitively for more than 20 years, from single ponies to four-in-hand horses. Tischer offers a broad perspective and a wealth of expertise to the US driving program. He has served on a number of driving committees in Germany and coached the Luxembourg driving team.

Eleven 10-day clinics with Tischer have been allotted for the next 12 months, and he wasted no time assessing the US drivers, as he conducted a clinic with some of them in Southern Pines, NC December 1-4, 2008. There are scheduled clinics in Houston, TX, Ocala, FL and Lexington, KY.

"The goal is to bring a full team to the World Equestrian Games, to fill all the slots with drivers that are good enough to compete on the international level," said Tischer.

The US is allotted nine spots for the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games because it is the host nation. The WEG will be held in Lexington, KY September 25-October 10, 2010.

"I look forward to working together with their own trainers to win a team medal," said Tischer. "I'm very excited that my name was on the list and that I can get this job. It is a big challenge but these drivers will be able to do a lot for the World Games and the US."

Tischer runs his own driving stable outside of Frankfurt, Germany where he teaches and trains. He gives clinics worldwide.
