Prince Meets the King - Or Muggle Meets Jimmy
by Melissa Stubbenberg
Melissa Stubbenberg is the owner of "Muggle" the 2007 USEA/EMCO Future
Event Horse Grand Champion
Well the allergies are starting to hit and cobwebs have been dusted off the
dreaded torture machine in the basement (elliptical machine)....SPRING is
coming and the let down time of winter is over. Time to get myself and my
horses back into work.
This time of year is the hardest for me. It is still dark and cold outside
when I get up to ride and dark and cold when I get home from work at night.
It is very hard to get motivated. So to help put the fear of God into me
and get my behind in gear, I helped co-organize a series of clinics here in
Unionville, PA with one of the Kings of eventing-Jimmy Wofford.

Tallahassee Lassie for the Weekend - Coverage of the Red Hills Gold Cup
Event
by Emily Daily
Finally. I have arrived at my destination. Last night as I slept, visions
of palm trees and snuggly warm sunshine danced in my brain, enticing me to
the Floridian delights (is there such a thing?) of the weekend to come.
After a hectic taxi ride through rush hour traffic (with me, chronically
paranoid of a missed flight, nervously chomping my nails to the quick),
after gulping down a quick breakfast of hashbrowns and too many cups of
coffee at the airport restaurant (because, really, aren't hashbrowns just
an excuse to eat french fries in the morning?), after several
claustrophobic hours on two planes (the aisle seat, no less...with unfriendly
bottoms waddling past me, inches from my face), after treading the 18 miles
across the Atlanta airport (I reached for the handrail once, but then
realized how many boogery children's hands and flu-ridden passengers had
grasped it before me), and waiting... waiting...waiting. Finally... I've arrived
in Tallahassee for the first Gold Cup event of the year. Let's explore some
of the possibilities of the long weekend stretched out before us....

Red Hills Wrap Up - Montgomery & Dutton Win the Golden Cups
by Emily Daily
Red Hills Horse Trials in Tallahassee, Florida, the first of this year's
2008 Adequan USEA Gold Cup events, finished up their weekend with packed
crowds, blue skies, and a fabulous day of show jumping. Clark Montgomery
and the steady Thoroughbred gelding Up Spirit, owned by Montgomery and
William and Holly Becker, put together a stellar ride to finish off his
weekend at the top of the CIC3*W division - which was the "Advanced"
division for the Gold Cup.
