Lexington, KY- August 2,2008- The sun was still beating down on The Kentucky Horse Park at 5:00 p.m., for the start of the $40,000 Kentucky Summer Grand Prix. This was the second Grand Prix win of the week for Debbie Stephens at the Kentucky Summer Horse Show. Top honors went to Stephens aboard All Star, owned by Centennial Farm of Palmetto, FL.

The course consisted of 17 fences, including three double combinations. "The oxer-oxer combination for him, that's a piece of cake. He's not agile, he's not cat-like, he's big and scopey. The course was built for him," explained Stephens, "It was built for one type of horse. Not that a little horse didn't go clear, but I think it was easier for a big, scopey horse."

Stephens went double clear with a time of 39.919 seconds. "The six got steady in the last line to the plank. I know I could have done five, but it was stupid to do five, that's how big that horse's stride is. That would have been leaving two strides out to that yellow plank," said Stephens.

The same turn that had cost Stephens and All Star the win in the Hagyard Lexington Classic was present in the first round of tonight's Kentucky Summer Grand Prix. Tonight the fence was a tall vertical, preceded by a water jump. "I was worried about that. The other night I didn't ride each jump first; I was riding the next jump before I left the ground. I was going to make sure I didn't make the same mistake twice," Stephens recounted.

"All Star is a great horse, he won twice here last year, so if he doesn't win it's my fault," Stephens announced.

Second place went to Little Emir, owned and shown by Shane Sweetnam of Wellington, FL with a time of 40.040. The last to go double clear, picking up the yellow ribbon with a time of 42.417 was Graf Lando, owned and shown by Meghan Moran of Malvern, PA. Fourth place went to Aaron Vale and Electric, owned by ABC 4 Horses of Oxford, MS. The pair completed the jump off in a time of 41.221 with a rail down at fence 12, an oxer. Rounding out the jump off in fifth place was Triviant, owned by Curtis-Lourie Group of Palm Beach, FL with Shane Sweetnam in the irons. The pair completed the eight-fence jump off in a time of 41.275 with a rail down at fence number 11.

The Kentucky Summer Horse Show concludes tomorrow but many riders, including Stephens will be back next week for the Kentucky Summer Classic, starting Wednesday, August 6, 2008. "I like to go where the horses like to jump, and where the facilities are nice. We only jump in the ring, the other 23 hours they spend should be where they have beautiful fields to walk in, it's a more natural environment. The footing now is obviously premiere," Stephens announced, "All Star felt like he was on springs tonight. We come because it's a beautiful horse facility."

The Kentucky Summer Horse Show concludes tomorrow with the High and Low Amateur Owner/Junior Jumper Classics. The classes will be held in the spacious Walnut Arena, beginning at 8 a.m.
