Traverse City, MI - July 29, 2007 - The second week of competition at Flintfields, home of Horse Shows by the Bay, concluded today in Traverse City, MI. On the warmest day so far, the Amateur-Owner and
Adult Amateur hunters awarded their champions. Bridget Hallman rode her Hear Say to the Amateur-Owner 18-35 Hunter tricolor as well as the Grand Amateur-Owner Hunter championship.
Hallman, of Oyster Bay, NY, rides with Louise Serio and earned
two firsts, one second, one fourth and a fifth with Hear Say out of 11 total entries. "I would have to say [Hear Say] is the perfect amateur horse. He's the same everyday and he has the best attitude - anything you ask him to do, he will try and
he'll try is heart out," explained Hallman. Hallman also piloted Laisse Faire to third, fourth, fourth and sixth places over fences in the same division.
Making it look like a walk in the park, Lynn Walsh received both the Amateur-Owner
Over 35 Hunter championship and reserve on Ocean Park and MacArthur Park, respectively. Walsh rides with Peter Pletcher, of Magnolia, TX.
Another of Pletcher's students, Laura Beckworth, rode her two horses, Bliss and Holiday, to the Adult
Amateur 36-50 Hunter championship and reserve, respectively. Beckworth described her 8-year-old mare, Bliss, as a "magic carpet ride" and a "once in a lifetime" horse but said that Holiday's reserve championship was extra special for
her. "He's really green and we're just figuring everything out so for him to do so well here, in this company, is extra special for me. I'm just so excited that he did well," said Beckworth.
In the Adult Amateur 18-35 Hunters, Timothy
Boulton rode LaPeche Catering's Ulone to the division tricolor. Boulton trains with Ken and Emily Smith at Ashland Farms. Dawn Fogel guided Janet Read's Africa to the reserve championship.
Horse Shows by the Bay III will begin on Wednesday,
August 1, 2007, at Flintfields.
