ROTTERDAM, The Netherlands, June 23, 2006 -- Anky van Grunsven and
Keltec
Salinero made it a double victory by winning the Grand Prix Special at
the Rotterdam CHIO Friday night, a day after their world record Grand
Prix. And Isabell Werth on Warum Nicht FRH was second, as she was in the
Grand Prix Thursday.
The score for van Grunsven and Keltec Salinero of The Netherlands in the
more demanding Grand Prix Special was 76.60 percent, with all five
judges again placing her in first place.
The Werth-Warum Nicht FRH combination of Germany scored 73.52 percent.
Keltec Salinero appeared far more tense than Thursday, and made some
mistakes.
Sjef Janssen, van Grunsven's trainer-husband, said that the horse still
reacts to a noisy environment, and the Friday night party atmosphere
provided plenty of that. Van Grunsven, he said, "had her hands full" in
riding the 12-year-old Hanoverian bay gelding.
In the Grand Prix Freestyle to be held Saturday night, van Grunsven will
ride IPS Krack C, a 14-year-old Dutch Warmblood stallion that she rode
to fourth place in Thursday's Grand Prix.
