Over The Hill Farm Opens 2006 With A Flourish At The Jacksonville Winter

Jacksonville, FL- January 11, 2006- The horses and riders of Over the
Hill Farm began their 2006 season with a flourish during the first of
five weeks at the Jacksonville Winter Series in Jacksonville, Florida.
They won three championships and five reserve championships as well as
three classics in divisions that ranged from Adult Amateur to Pre-Green
Pony Hunters.
Despite not showing since March of 2005, owner/rider Laura van den Berg
started 2006 with a championship on Pollock in the Adult Amateur 18-35
Hunter division by taking two first places and a fourth and a fifth over
fences and a first under saddle. This successful combination also went
on to win the Adult Amateur 18-35 Hunter Classic. Laura is currently in
school at Emerson University in Boston working toward a M.F.A. degree
and must fit her riding and showing in around her studying and class
schedule.
The winning combination of What D'Ya Know and owner/rider Lee Cesery
carried their success from the National Horse Show in Wellington forward
to Jacksonville. They won every over fences class in the Amateur Owner
35 &Over Hunter division and claimed the championship. Lee and
"Snickers" then captured top honors in the Amateur Owner Hunter Classic.
Ceillia, owned by Nicole Bailey and ridden by Megan Massaro, was reserve
champion in the Large Junior 16-17 Hunters. Ceillia took first, second
, third, and fourth over fences and first under saddle to bring home the
reserve ribbon. Honor Role, ridden by Caroline Cramer and owned by
Courtney Rodrigue, captured the reserve championship in the in the Large
Junior 15 and Under Hunter division with second place in all four over
fences classes and a blue ribbon in the under saddle. Honor Roll and
Cramer were also first in the 15-17 Open Equitation Flat class and in
the Large Junior Equitation Over Fences class.
The Over the Hill ponies continued their winning ways during this first
week in Jacksonville. Fashion Talk, owned by Bill Schaub and Lauren
Hogan and ridden by Megan Massaro, won the championship in the Pre-Green
Pony division with two first and two third place ribbons over fences and
a first under saddle. Strike It Blue, owned by Bill Schaub and ridden
by Massaro, won the reserve championship in the Small/Medium Green Pony
division by tallying two first, a second and a third over fence ribbons
and a third under saddle.
Freedom, owned by Michael Connaghan and ridden by Massaro, captured the
Large Green Pony division reserve championship. Freedom's ribbons were
a first, second, third, and seventh over fences and a second under
saddle. Island Breeze Pretty Please, owned and ridden by Courtney
Leonard, brought home the reserve championship in the Children's Pony
division with a first, second, third and fourth over fences and a second
under saddle. They then successfully completed the Children's Pony
Classic to add the blue ribbon to their total.
Over the Hill Farm riders will compete again this week at the
Jacksonville International Horse Show in Green Cove Springs, Florida.
