NEWS RELEASE
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
April 11, 2005
Lexington, KY - Universities and colleges that compete in Division I and
Division II NCAA equestrian sports throughout the United States now have
the added resources of a newly launched website. The United States
Equestrian Federation (USEF) and the American Quarter Horse Association
(AQHA) join in support of the efforts of www.varsityequestrian.com
, the official site of Varsity
Equestrian sports. Designed to enhance the knowledge and awareness of
equestrian competition at the university level and beyond, the site will
also serve as information headquarters for Varsity Equestrian sports and
will help establish a consistent brand image for the sport while
providing useful information to athletes, parents, coaches,
administrators and athletic directors.
"One of the reasons equestrian sport continues to grow in this country
is the increased participation of juniors and young adults," says John
Long, Chief Executive Officer of the USEF. "The growing number of
varsity programs is important in coaching these young people who are the
trainers, riders and owners of the future. This website is a welcome
resource for those interested in pursuing their love of horses at the
university level."
"AQHA always supports the involvement of young people with horses," adds
AQHA Executive Vice President Bill Brewer. "The NCAA Varsity Equestrian
program is a great partner in our efforts to provide equine activities
to people of all ages and backgrounds."
