Madden and Authentic Capture $200,000 Budweiser American Invitational at
Tampa

Tampa, Fl - April 2 - In the only two horse jump-off in the thirty three
year history of the Budweiser American Invitational, Olympic Silver
Medalist Beezie Madden aboard her Athens partner, Authentic, topped
Jeffery Welles and Armani for the victory at Raymond James Stadium on
Saturday night in Tampa, Florida.
Welles was the first to return for the tiebreaker. Riding for Kimmel
Yaeger Equine, Welles pulled a rail halfway through the speed course and
crossed the finish line in 43.29 seconds.
Madden followed Welles into the arena and to the delight of 17,800
cheering fans on hand, toured the short course without penalty and
picked up a first place check of $60,000. Welles picked up $44,000 for
his efforts.
