Lake Placid, NY- July 15- Bainbridge Farms and amateur rider Jennifer
Reid have recently returned to Wellington after a successful trip to New
York to show at the Lake Placid Horse Show series.
Reid's first big show in New York was the Lake Placid Horse Show, which
ran from June 29- July 3. "I was a little intimidated at first, but once
we got in there, it wasn't so bad," she admitted. "The atmosphere is so
great. The surroundings are beautiful and just to be able to jump in
that setting is outstanding."
Reid's most successful mount was Jiminy Cricket, an eight year old Selle
Francais gelding by the famous jumper sire, Narcos. Jiminy Cricket is
owned by Bainbridge Farms in Wellington, FL, which is owned by Richard
Schechter, president and CEO of The Bainbridge Companies LLC.
The pair started out with a bang, and won the championship in the
Amateur Adult 18-35 Hunter division. They finished first, second, and
fifth over fences and were sixth in the under saddle class. Their
division had over forty competitors. Reid exclaimed, "It was a nice way
to start off in Lake Placid!" In addition to the tricolor, Reid scored
an 87 in the Ariat Adult Medal and finished in second place.
Reid and Jiminy Cricket were invited to participate in the Parade of
Champions on Sunday afternoon before the big grand prix class. They
accepted their award from Richard Feldman, chairman of the Lake Placid
Horse Show. "Richard Feldman is amazing. He puts on the best horse
shows that I've been to," Reid asserted.
Reid had help at Lake Placid from trainer Leo Conroy of Wellington, FL.
"I was pleased she did so well," Conroy commented. "She's a very good
rider and competitor." Reid also had the chance to see a new horse that
will join the operations of Bainbridge Farms. "Richard Schechter bought
a fancy new hunter and I'm looking forward to helping them through the
summer," Conroy mentioned.
The next week in Lake Placid, the I Love New York Horse Show, was held
on July 6-10. Jiminy Cricket was once again in fine form, as he
finished first, third, and sixth over fences and was fourth under saddle
in the Adult Amateur 18-35 division. These top ribbons gave the pair
the reserve championship. Reid also improved on her previous
performance in the Ariat Adult Medal. Although she was called back in
second place in the test for the class, her determination and hard work
paid off and they were moved up to first place.
Reid and Bainbridge Farms will take time off from competing until the
Palm Beach County Horsemen's Association show on September 10-11. Reid
also has her eye on qualifying for the Ariat Adult Medal Finals, held at
the Capital Challenge Horse Show in the first week of October 2005.
