Lake Placid, NY—July 7, 2005—Ramiro Quintana of Argentina won the $15,000
Pin Oak Farm 1.50m Jump-off at the 28th annual I Love New York Horse Show.
After the first 18 of 19 entries had ridden over the 15-jump first-round
course at the North Elba Showgrounds, only Amy Morrow of Albany, NY had
succeeded in finishing without penalty. Then Quintana, the day’s final
entry, also mastered the Steve Stephens-designed course to force a two-horse
jump-off.
Morrow returned first to try the eight-jump, tiebreaker course and she had
two knockdowns for eight faults and finished in 39.713 seconds on her mount,
Summer Storm. Quintana then completed the jump-off fault-free in 44.379
seconds to claim the win on Carousel.
Also riding into the winner’s circle was Lauren Bass who rode Firefly to
victory in the Wild Horse Winery North American League (NAL) 1.40m Speed
Stake. Bass topped a 27-horse field with the day’s fastest time in the NAL
Open Speed Series event that helps qualify riders for the NAL Finals at the
Pennsylvania National Horse Show in Harrisburg, PA on October.
