Pan American team gold medalist Michael Pollard won the Advanced-A division
at Richland Park Horse Trials in Michigan this weekend riding Nathalie
Pollard's nine year old German Warmblood mare Schoensgreen Hanni with a
score of 33.5. The mare maintained the form she established to become a
U.S. team member last year and, despite surviving the tragic trailer
accident this spring, has returned to competition with a winning edge
finishing almost eight points ahead.
This is Hanni's fourth win of the season, which began with first place at
Ocala Winter Horse Trials (HT) Preliminary division followed by victories in
the Advanced divisions at The Fork HT and Chattahoochee Hills HT. Hanni has
also notched up two second place finishes; the Advanced at Pine Top Spring
HT and Advanced Intermediate at Full Gallop Farm HT.
Pollard paced the mare round Ian Stark's cross country course at Richland
Park, although she was full of confidence, because they had ten points in
hand at the top of the leaderboard "This was another effortless performance
for her and she took all the major combinations in her stride," said
Pollard. "I'm thrilled with the way she has returned to competition after
what happened to her earlier this year. She proved she's a fighter and why
she's my top horse right now. This competition has set us up for the fall
season and I look forward to taking her to Fair Hill International CCI3* in
October."
Pollard Eventing also collected ribbons in the Preliminary Horse-A division
with Michael & Nathalie Pollard's six year old German Warmblood, Cheyenne
Blue, who finished on her dressage score of 43.5 in 5th place. "I'm very
pleased with the way this mare is improving in her dressage because she has
a lot of potential. The cross country was a joy because she finds it so
easy and this was probably the best preliminary round I've ever had,"
commented Pollard who rounded off a flawless jumping performance with a
clear round in the stadium.
Pollard also rode Carl Bouckaert's ten year old New Zealand Thoroughbred
gelding DV8 into 8th place in the Open Intermediate-B finishing on 68.8
penalties.
