Lexington KY - August 28, 2012 - Lexington KY - August 28, 2012 - The Alltech Arena was filled with top competitors as the final $5,000 Hallway Feeds National Hunter Derby got underway during the KHJA Horse Show. Junior rider Kelli Cruciotti overtook fellow contenders with Promo, moving into the third place overall in the rankings, but falling shy of the Junior Leading Rider Bonus behind Shawn Casady, who took the $2,500 bonus after leading the Junior Ranks for all six derby events, while Sarah Sturges collected the Amateur Leading Rider bonus. Louise Serio was awarded the $10,000 Professional Leading Rider bonus, completing the $45,000 Hallway Feeds National Hunter Derby series with an astounding 1,075 points.

The Hallway Feeds Series consisted of six national hunter derby events that were held during the 2012 show series at the Kentucky Horse Park. Following the final event, cash prizes totaling $15,000 were awarded to the series' leading riders. The Kentucky Summer Series was held July 24 - Aug. 26, 2012, and featured four of the $5,000 Hallway Feeds USHJA National Hunter Derbies.

Serio has held the lead in the standings since the first $5,000 Hallway Feeds National Hunter Derby during the Kentucky Spring Horse Show, and concluded the series at the pinnacle of the standings. She raved about the incentive the Hallway Feeds Derby Series provided for all levels of experience, admitting that she hopes the series continues in the future.

Hallway Feeds Nutritional and Technical Services Specialist Morgan Akers-McQuerry stated, "We enjoyed being the title sponsor of the Hallway Feeds USHJA National Hunter Derby Series this year. Plans to continue this arrangement will be discussed with all of our supporting sponsors so that we can make the most of our sponsorship roles. We look forward to meeting with the riders, trainers, and their equestrian athletes during the rest of this summer and over the winter to discuss how Hallway Feeds can be part of their formula for success."

"It was an honor to be the presenting sponsor of the USHJA National Hunter Derby that put the spotlight on an elite group of horses and riders," Akers-McQuerry continued. "Hallway Feeds is grateful to share such close proximity to the Kentucky Horse Park and our partnership with Kentucky Horse Shows provided the opportunity to share top notch nutrition information and quality feeds with the sport horse community."

The USHJA National Hunter Derby program is in its third year, and is growing in prestige and popularity. Amateurs, Juniors and Professional riders are eligible to compete, giving it a broad base of support and interest. The $15,000 Hallway Feeds Leading Rider Awards presented a $10,000 cash prize to the professional rider accumulating the most points in the six classes that make up the Series. The amateur rider and junior rider accumulating the most points each received a $2,500 cash prize. Riders received points only on their highest placed horse in each of the classes. The Series concluded Saturday with the winners for the $15,000 Leading Rider Bonuses being announced and presented with the prize by representatives of Hallway Feeds.

Supporting sponsors for the Hallway Feeds USHJA National Hunter Derby Series are KER Sport Horse Nutrition, Sweet PDZ Stall Refresher, PNC Bank, Alfagreen Supreme, Biederman Real Estate and Auctioneers, Trouw Nutrition, and Caddel Equine Therapy Center.

KER Sport Horse Nutrition is a new joint venture between Kentucky Equine Research (KER) and Hallway Feeds. This partnership melds the technological and nutritional expertise of KER with the globally recognized horse feed manufacturing reputation of Hallway Feeds.
