Bromont, Quebec, July 23, 2012 - American Leslie Howard dominated in the first FEI
event at International Bromont today, beating Canadian young rider Ben Asselin to
the punch.
A breakaway win
Today's 1m50 class featured 30 horse/rider teams on a course signed by designer
Leopoldo Palacios. In the end, only five qualified for the jump-off.
First on the course, England's Tim Gredley establishes the time to beat with a clear
round in 43.13 seconds. Not before Ben Asselin executed a perfect round in 42.97
seconds on his mount Rush did Gredley lose first place.
Last rider on the course, Leslie Howard came out at full speed with Utah; going
through the obstacles quickly, she saved precious seconds taking a very tight turn
mid-course. Her final time of 39.40 seconds gave her first place in this FEI 1m
50 show jumping event.
A chance for revenge
International riders at the Bromont show will have a chance to compete against each
other once again tomorrow, July 20, in the second Open Jumper 1m50, the last FEI
event before the BonjourQuébec.com World Cup qualifier on Sunday July 22.
Tomorrow's competitions will conclude with the Talent Squad; as well as the Canadian
Equestrian Team Medal, presented by Burkman Capital.
International Bromont promises an unforgettable 2012 edition with five FEI events,
the return of the Royal Canin Challenge on both Sundays, as well as its two new
events. For more details on the programme, visit our Internet site at www.internationalbromont.org.
