Traverse City, MI - July 9, 2012 - The first week of Horse Shows By the Bay
in Traverse City, MI, was very successful for the Texas natives from Nordic
Lights Farm. Amateur rider Eirin Bruheim took home a championship tricolor,
as well as the victory in the $10,000 Show Jumper Hall of Fame High
Junior/Amateur-Owner Jumper Classic. Her sister Lene also earned a
championship title, winning in the Children's Jumpers aboard NLF Valhall.
Eirin led the way in the High Junior/Amateur-Owner Jumper division with her
first mount, Cicero 75. The pair captured the winning honors in the first
class with a double clear effort, and also went on to place 10th in the
$10,000 SJHOF High Junior/Amateur-Owner Jumper Classic. Their efforts were
good enough to capture the championship title. On her second mount Tackeray,
Eirin scored the winning award in the Classic, speeding through the jump-off
with the talented 12-year-old stallion a full second ahead of the leader.
"After witnessing the first four horses in the jump off have four faults,
and then watching Maria Costa finally go clean and fast, I said to
myself...Okay, I need to be clean and I need to go fast. So, I just took as
many chances as I could and it paid off," smiled Eirin.
"This weekend was amazing," continued Eirin. "My horses were excellent!
Tackeray and Cicero 75 were both so good and I can't believe how lucky I am
to have them." Bruheim also claimed a third place ribbon aboard NLF Trans
Atlantic in the 1.30m Open Jumpers, who is making a steady recovery from an
injury in 2011.
Nordic Lights Farm continued its winning ways in the Children's Jumpers,
where Lene captured the championship honors riding NLF Valhall. The pair won
the first class and also placed second over the weekend. Lene also had
excellent rounds with her second mount Jessika, who claimed two yellow
ribbons in the division.
"Horse Shows By the Bay was awesome this week," expressed Lene. "My horses
were so trying and forgiving with me, it was truly awesome! I think they
really enjoy being out of the Texas heat. NLF Valhall was a superstar as
usual, and I'm getting to know Jessika a lot better now."
The horses and riders of Nordic Lights Farm will continue to compete at
Horse Shows By the Bay this month, before heading to Lexington, KY for the
Kentucky Summer Series.
Nordic Lights Farm is a 70-acre establishment located in Tomball, TX, that
was founded in 2007 by the Bruheim family to help further the equestrian
goals of 19-year-old Eirin Bruheim and 17-year-old Lene Bruheim. Both girls
have worked their way up through the ranks and are currently competing at
the top levels in the hunter and jumper divisions aboard their incredible
string of horses.
