East Aurora, NY - June 5, 2012 - For the second consecutive year, talented
junior rider Charlotte Jacobs took home the R.W. "Ronnie Mutch Equitation
Championship during the prestigious Devon Horse Show. Jacobs and her leading
equitation mount Stallone VDL were once again at the top of the leaderboard
to claim the coveted honor. Later that weekend, Jacobs flew to
HITS-On-The-Hudson, where she placed first and second in the $10,000 Show
Jumping Hall of Fame High Junior/Amateur-Owner Jumper Classic with Kachina
and Cyrina Z, respectively.
Jacobs and Stallone VDL have been top competitors in the equitation ring
throughout 2012, and during the Devon Horse Show their mastership of the
discipline shone though. They earned the top call in the Pessoa/USEF Hunter
Seat Medal, and then won the Platinum Performance/USEF Show Jumping Talent
Search. At the end of the Devon Horse Show's Junior Weekend, they were
presented with the R.W. "Ronnie Mutch Equitation Championship for the second
year in a row.
"It is an amazing accomplishment," expressed Jacobs. "I wasn't really
expecting it after winning it last year. Stallone VDL felt amazing
though. The Dixon Oval is his favorite ring and he always performs his best
there. It's a huge accomplishment, and now I am going to just try and do my
best during Finals in the fall."
Jacobs' winning streak was not over yet for the weekend, when she flew to
HITS-On-The-Hudson in Saugerties, NY, for the first week of competition. She
stepped into the ring on Sunday for the $10,000 Show Jumping Hall of Fame
High Junior/Amateur-Owner Jumper Classic, where she proved to be a
dominating force with Kachina and Cyrina Z. She posted the only double-clear
rounds to win the event with Kachina and place second aboard Cyrina Z.
"I had some bad luck during the Junior Jumper Classic at Devon, and I came
to HITS and I knew I wanted to win," explained Jacobs. "We went in and did
what we needed to do. I was so tired, but both of my horses were great and
jumped double-clear. It's a great feeling going in and jumping clear on both
of them after not riding them since Saratoga."
This year, Jacobs has chosen to donate all of her winnings to Danny and
Ron's Rescue, a no kill rescue organization that has placed over 4,196 dogs
in loving homes. Her one-two finish in the $10,000 High Junior/Amateur-Owner
Jumper Classic created a new donation of over $4,500 for the rescue.
Later this summer, Jacobs will travel with Missy Clark, John Brennan and the
team from North Run to compete during the Lake Placid Horse Shows, as well
as the North American Junior and Young Riders Championship.
