Katy TX - April 6, 2011 - Today was a beautiful sunny day at the Great Southwest Equestrian Center for competitors at the Spring Gathering Charity Horse Show. Jumper riders competed in a 1.35m Open Jumper class and a 1.40m Open Jumper class in the Main Indoor Arena over courses designed by Richard Jeffrey. Caroline Beecherl and Jade Du Vertain secured the win in the 1.35m, while Wilhelm Genn and Winchester took home the win in the 1.40m Open Jumper class.

Caroline Beecherl and Jade Du Vertain were victorious in the 1.35m Open Jumper class after two fault free rounds. Beecherl and Jade Du Vert left all the rails in the cups and blazed around the jump-off in 34.886 seconds, beating Ryan Genn and Jolly Mon's time of 35.067 seconds. Beecherl owns Jade Du Vertain and trains with Matt Cyphert.

"Jade Du Vertain does the High Junior Amateurs usually and she is wonderful. We have had her for four years, and she is 14 years old. I thought she rode around great she was smooth and fast. She was just wonderful today," noted Beecherl.

Ryan Genn, who was first to enter the arena today, took home second place honors. Genn and Jolly Mon also went double clear, but had a slightly slower jump-off time of 35.067 seconds. Jolly Mon is owned and trained by Wilhelm Genn. Third place honors went to Frankie Owens and Peggi Sue, owned by DS Holdings LLC. The duo navigated the short course following a clear first round effort. They blazed around stopping the clock at 38.160 seconds, but had the last rail down leaving them with four faults. Wendy Thompson aboard Fleur De Lis Farm's Senator earned fourth place honors. Thompson and Senator left all the rails up during their first round, but had an unfortunate time fault, which kept them from the jump-off.

Wilhelm Genn had another successful day at the Spring Gathering Horse Show. Genn and Bridlebourne Stables LLC's Winchester put in a double clear effort for the win in the 1.40m Open Jumper class.

"Winchester is an eight-year-old Dutch Warmblood that I have had since last spring. I thought today's courses were awesome. I was happy with my rides and I thought the horse jumped great," said a very pleased Genn. "He did the hunters a year ago so he moved up fairly quick in one year. I think he is a very talented horse and he has a lot of jump. We need to improve his technique a little bit but if he goes well again tomorrow I think I will do him in the grand prix. He has got good breeding. I thought the courses were outstanding."

Jessica Law and Sangria had the fastest of the four fault rounds with a time of 69.765 earning second place honors. Katie Cox and Sacramento took home the third place ribbon with a slightly slower four fault round. Cox and Sacramento stopped the clock at 73.527 seconds.

Tomorrow the Spring Gathering Charity Horse Show will continue with the $10,000 Spring Gathering Welcome Stake. This week's highlight events will include the Carole and Jim Looke Family Fund $50,000 USHJA International Hunter Derby on Saturday, and the $25,000 Spring Gathering Grand Prix on Sunday.
