NEWS RELEASE
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
December 21, 2009
Lexington, KY Lucy Davis jumped clear when it mattered most in the
European Youngster Cup at CSI Frankfurt in Germany December 17-20, to win
the prestigious competition with the only clear trip in the final round.
Riding True Love, a 13-year-old Belgian Warmblood owned by Old Oak Farm,
Davis (Los Angeles, CA) jumped clear in the Preliminary round, with the
eighth fastest time. The pair then had one fence down in the next round but
their score was good enough to make the final which featured the top 16
after the first two rounds.
Davis and True Love then returned to the ring on Sunday and jumped the only
clear to be crowned champion.
Seventeen-year-old Davis secured a spot in the competition with her second
place finish at the 2009 Adequan FEI North American Junior/Young Rider
Championships presented by Gotham North. She was the sole American rider to
take on the Europeans after the top three riders at NAJYRC received
invitations. The Europeans qualified through a series of competitions over
the summer, and 27 of the best Under 25 riders started the Championship
Final.
